About

I love food and cooking and I find it extremely difficult to find vegetarian food that isn't wack ass shit that taste like paper. This blog chronicles my attempts at making foods, as well as some of the rad vegetarian-friendly places I eat at. Word.

Veggie Philly Cheesesteak

The idea of making a veggie/vegan Philly Cheesesteak may sound easy, but there’s a technique that you have to get down with, particularly the fact that you just don’t throw a bunch of cold or microwaved vegetables into a bun and call it a day.  You have to finesse those fixins.  The other part is understanding that if you want to have a semi-healthy sandwich, there’s no way in fuck that it’s authentic.  A real cheesesteak (on top of the fact that it contains meat) is that it’s greasy as shit.  This bastardized version is one that’s both good and will keep your arteries clean.

Ingredients:

  • Hoagie roll
  • Green pepper
  • Onion
  • Mushrooms (2)
  • Tomato
  • Black pepper
  • Garlic salt

Extra Shiz:

  • Crinkle cut fries
  • Cheese sauce (you can make this by simply boiling milk with shredded cheddar cheese and a little bit of flour to thicken it up)
